My name is Luon Marie
Amanda Isabelle Camille Rose St. Pierre. My
friends call me Lulu...I was named after a few of my great aunts...I cam
from quite a large family, I could have had 24 first names, I guess I got
lucky.
I was born in northern Minnesota in 1964.
As a child I was always sick. I had a standing reservation once a year
for the oxygen tent at Int'l Falls Memorial. I felt like whatever
brain cells I had were deadened by all the drugs I had to be on just to
breathe. School was just not important to me. I quit high school
at the age of 16, and that fall with GED in clenched fist started my first
semester at Ringling College of Art and Design.
For the first time in my life I was
excelling in something. However, as much as I was enjoying the
experience, I knew interior design wasn't exactly it, and I didn't have
enough money not to be sure. I quit school and started the next phase
of my life.
For the next 12 years I worked for an
interior designer. I was a window designer and I was immersed in the
art of fine jewelry design and casting. Even though I was being
creative I still hadn't found the one true passion. At 30 years old
after wanting to be a mother for many years, I gave birth to my amazing
daughter Katherine (Kat), I was newly single, unemployed, and feeling
professionally unfulfilled.
Over the next two years through a series
of serendipitous events, I found the professional passion that had always
been smoldering but never ablaze...It wasn't in interior design, although
that played a part, it was in the furniture itself...but not just furniture,
ART furniture...I was a single mom, a waitress (so I could feed us and pay
the rent. With emotional support from my family, I set out to learn
from a (mentor) folk artist...basic wood working skills, and then embarked
on a self taught voyage into my artistic soul.
Fast forward 16 years I'm in a space with
three of the most important things in my life...my daughter Katherine, my
beloved husband Rick, and my art.
My name is Luon St. Pierre I am a self
taught artist...My art is in galleries and shops across the country and in
collections worldwide. Please step into Lulu's Happy Bubble and enjoy
your evening.
