DAIANA STANESCU

STATEMENT

     She shows a view of life in the margins, with people’s relationships based upon cultural minority, nature of occupation, or some other common characteristic.  Working in a series, Stanescu encourages us to see - to linger beyond the glance and notice what we have around us that is familiar to us.  She is interested in representing groups of people that are essential to society but more often invisible.  The work in this exhibition is about people as part of a group, whatever group that may be rather than about the portrait as a testament of the individual.
